About the President

A life long dream came true for our founders Gary and Roberta Howard when Poland Spring Academy opened its doors in 1999. Their dream to help kids and families had been a long journey from foster parenting over 30 young people to doing respite care for many others. The journey also took Roberta from childhood abuse to obtaining three college degrees including an Associates in Social Work, a Bachelors in Rehabilitation Services, and a Masters in Christian Education. With 24 credits toward her Doctorate in Higher Education, it is clear that the emphasis has always been on education to help kids and their families.

Roberta has been recognized in the community by receiving the 1999 Commissioners Recognition Award for Teacher of the Year, she received a Certificate of Recognition for Extraordinary Public Service from the Jefferson’s award Commission, and has also received the Hidden Hero Award in Oxford County. She is featured in the Who’s Who publication for colleges and universities as well. Although she has been recognized for numerous achievements, she feels the real heroes are her husband Gary, and the team of dedicated workers who share her vision.

Letter from the President

Greetings,

Education is the key to success! For many families, however, educational success is impaired by the challenges their children face in traditional public school programs. Poland Spring Academy is a private school which offers students a variety of learning options tailored specifically to meet each child’s individual needs and to ensure each child’s individual success. We offer classroom based and home school education programs to children at the kindergarten level through high school, as well as online tutoring.

The dedicated staff at Poland Spring Academy will develop an individualized program for your child that uses the best aspects of his or her own learning habits. Our “no fail” policy allows each child to spend as much time as is needed on each subject area, and our staff provides individual attention to ensure every child achieves the standard of learning required to receive credit. Our “no homework” policy and four day school week affords parents and students to a healthy balance of school and family time. We understand the importance of family and we provide an atmosphere that harbors family values.

Poland Spring Academy is now enrolling for the 2009 and 2010 school year. We are offering a 10% discount on any new enrollments coming to us via this website.
